Laxmi Shingadia resides in Thakkar Bappa Colony, which is famous for shoe manufacturing. Their daily work consists of manufacturing shoes and distributing the same to other parts of Mumbai and India.

Laxmi used to work under a footwear manufacturer however was not satisfied because of lower earnings. Eventually she left her job & with UNNATI’s financial assistance she along with her husband started a business of handmade sponge footwear. Laxmi takes footwear orders from shoe retailers & delivers them the order. Over a period of time her work has prospered and now she is joined by other women. Laxmi says “This work is not fulfilling my financial needs but also employs other women like me & gives them opportunity to earn some money.”
